Jr Oaks Program - For Campers Sk - Gr.2 (as of Sept 2020)
Each day is packed full of fun for this group. Our Junior Oaks Room is full of fun games, story books, interactive stations and is an awesome space for learning! Counselors in this program are carefully selected for their experience with younger children and their ability to creatively meet the needs of this important age group!
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are regular camp days. Each morning we have a special story time, followed by playtime. Our daily camp activities include crafts, sports and drama. Each afternoon we have a quiet time where children are able to take a rest (if needed), or spend some time quietly reading books or watching a movie, followed by an afternoon snack. On Tuesdays we go swimming and on Thursdays we are on a Day Trip.
Worried that your child will be separated from their sibling? Don’t worry – siblings are able to see each other frequently throughout the day! The Junior Oaks visit the Great Oaks at lunch time, free time and sometimes during our visits to the park or during free play. We also travel together as a group during our offsite trips! Please note your child must be turning 5 this year to enter the Jr Oaks Program.
Great Oaks Program - For Campers Gr.3 - Gr.6 (as of Sept 2020)
Our Great Oaks program is created with your kids in mind! Counselors in this program are carefully selected for their ability to work with older campers. During the normal camp day, campers participate in Sports, Drama, Crafts, and Workshop Electives (campers get to choose which Workshop they want to join).
We have a snack during the day. Jump Start Reading happens during the afternoons. Staff will take time individually, and as a group, to develop reading and writing skills with our campers. This is an exciting time for everyone, with writing contests, rewards and more! Another favourite activity for the Great Oak campers are the video game systems available during free time!
Jump Start Reading Program
Jump Start Reading will happen on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. During this time, campers will work individually and as a group, developing reading and writing skills. This is an exciting time with writing contests reading challenges, story discoveries and rewards! We believe it's important for campers to read and work on their literacy skills during the summer to promote healthy minds, and prepare for school in the fall!
